Hello!

My name is Jody, I was born in Essex (no I am not your typical Essex girl!) and have moved around the south coast a fair bit, I went to the University in Portsmouth then lived in the tiny town of Littlehampton for a couple of years then back to Essex again before meeting my amazing partner and finally settling in Kent with him.

My creative journey started when I was very young and used to collect empty cereal boxes and toilet tubes and make contraptions to dispense sweeties! I then moved onto sewing and got my first sewing machine at 12 years old, making skirts from zips and off cuts of fabrics, editing my tops and generally experimenting with whatever I could get my hands on. I also found a love of cross stitch and while my peers would be zooming around the playground playing, I would be sat in a comfortable chair in the corner cross stitching a clown. Since then I have explored card making, scrap booking, jewelry making, silver smiting, printmaking, bullet journaling, watercolors, pattern drafting, knitting and basically anything I could try or do a workshop in.

In 2022 when I moved to Kent I decided to sign up to a crochet workshop for something to do and to try and meet new people and I just fell in love with crochet.

I went from doing a flat shaped heart to a full Amigurumi dinosaur in about 2 days! It just really really resonated with me and I loved the amount of different projects you could do and how you could see it taking shape as you crocheted. I particularly loved Amigurumi and made all sorts of creatures for my friends and family. I was, as they say, hooked! 😉

I was told on multiple occasions that I should actually do something with my creativity. I obviously ignored them all at first, because how on earth was I going to make that work!

And then on the cusp of my 40th birthday I had some mental health issues that rocked me a fair bit and I started to have a real hard look at my life and if I was happy. I started seeing a counselor and she helped me figure out what was going on and what I actually wanted in life and then in the beginning of 2026 I took the big jump of leaving my full time job to focus on my new creative journey and Curious Peanut was born!

I love making people smile with the things that I make, there is nothing better then someone walks straight up to your stall with a massive grin on their face saying ‘oh my god that is adorable!’ Best. Feeling. Ever! Beyond this I want to help to inspire others to get creative and teach them the skills I have learnt to spread the joy of craft and crochet to others:)
